Eating safe food is very important for our healthy living. By safe food, we mean 'Foods that do not contain any harmful ingredients and are beneficial for us'.
A report published by World Health Organization (WHO), "An estimated 600 million – almost 1 in 10 people in the world – fall ill after eating contaminated food and 420 000 die every year."
According to a report prepared by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations last year, "People are suffering from lack of safe food and nutrition across the globe due to both man-made and natural disasters."
Food can be unsafe by using much pesticides & harmful chemicals which contaminates food and it causes many diseases which is effected by bacteria, viruses.
According to the figures provided by ICDDR,B, about 70 percent of Bangladesh population consume unsafe food, and as a result suffer from various diseases, including cancer!
So eating safe food is too much important for all of us.
In this case, eating fresh grain foods, agricultural fruits, vegetables, etc. is much more beneficial for our health.

🔹 It protects water & soil quality –
When producer practices safe agriculture, such as not using harmful pesticides and rather using organic fertilizers, then it helps to maintain soil fertility and prevent water contamination, ensuring long-term food production.
🔹 Ensuring producers responsibility
The producers have some responsibilities like proper managing, storage food safely, packaging food items, knowing & implementing all the process correctly can reduce the rate of unsafe food producing.
🔹 Prevents harmfulness of crop
Proper processing of planting, not using harmful ingredients and use of clean water in irrigation prevent contamination by bacteria, fungi, or chemicals that could make food unsafe to eat.
🔹 Reduces Foodborne Illnesses
In agriculture field, safe food is processed by a proper storage method & followed every rules of cleansing so that bacteria, viruses & pathogens can't cause illness.
🔹 Supports Sustainable Farming
Safe food production & methodology encourages sustainable agricultural process, which includes such as crop rotation, integrated pest management and organic farming, reducing environmental impact and ensuring food security as well.
🔹Enhances Marketability and Economy
In agricultural sector, the producers & farmers want to gain economical stability & marketing process as boosted. So in this case, customers help them gaining those by demanding safe food & maintaining high safety standards food. It also give the access to the farms to international markets.
In the end, we can say that, by prioritizing food safety in agriculture, we protect human health, preserve natural resources, and create a more resilient food system.
